Four steps,
and no surprises.

The three steps in the form are how you book. These four are what actually happens once a technician is standing in your kitchen.

01

Diagnose

The technician confirms what the appliance is doing rather than working from the description alone, and checks the cheap causes before the expensive ones.

02

Quote before any work

You are told what the repair is and what it costs before any work is approved. If the answer is that the appliance is not worth repairing, you are told that too.

03

Parts

Common parts are carried. Anything model-specific is ordered against your model number, which is why having it ready shortens the whole process.

04

Repair and check

The repair is completed and the appliance is left running, with the problem confirmed gone rather than assumed gone.

What a repair
usually costs.

A useful rule: weigh the repair against what the appliance would cost to replace in the same opening. On a freestanding unit that is a straightforward comparison. On a built-in or a column it is not, because the replacement has to match the cabinetry, and that is why sealed-system work on those types is still normally worth doing.

RepairRelative costNotes
Door gasket or alignment lowest Often the cheapest job on the list, and frequently the real cause of a much more expensive-sounding symptom.
Defrost heater, thermostat or sensor low The usual answer when frost has built up and the fresh-food side has drifted warm.
Evaporator or condenser fan low Common, quick, and the reason a freezer can be cold while the refrigerator is not.
Water inlet valve or line low Covers most no-water and no-ice calls once the filter and the shut-off have been ruled out.
Defrost drain clearing low The sheet of ice under the bottom drawer, before it becomes water on the kitchen floor.
Ice maker assembly moderate Replaced as a module rather than rebuilt on nearly every current design.
Control board moderate Priced against the model, and on built-in units the part is the majority of the cost.
Compressor or sealed system highest The one repair where the decision is genuinely open, and where the type of appliance decides it.
Maintenance visit lowest Not a repair. The visit that prevents the largest share of the ones above it.

The kitchen a refrigerator sits in changes what goes wrong with it. These notes are about refrigeration in each place, not about the place.

All service areas

Tampa BayFL · 31 areas

Tampa Bay is warm and humid for most of the year, so a second refrigerator in a garage or under a lanai is working against the weather rather than in a conditioned room. Nearer the water, ground level is often built as parking or storage instead of living space, which puts the kitchen a floor up and every delivery on the stairs.

OrlandoFL · 30 areas

Most of Orlando's housing is newer and built to a plan, so a street tends to share one kitchen layout and one appliance package, and the same problem arrives from several houses in the same season. Part-year residences are common here too, and a refrigerator in a closed-up house is found late rather than early.

Miami / South FloridaFL · 47 areas

Two things shape refrigeration in Miami. Most of these kitchens are in towers, so an appliance arrives and leaves through a service lift and a building schedule, and the installations are built-in and panel-ready far more often than freestanding. And many are second homes, which means a refrigerator can fail in May and be found in November.

New York MetroNY · 75 areas

New York is the hardest city in this list to get a refrigerator into and out of. Pre-war apartments have kitchens built before anyone imagined a 36-inch appliance, buildings restrict when service lifts can be used, and the units that fit are narrow columns and undercounter refrigeration installed with no clearance to spare.

HoustonTX · 36 areas

Houston combines long humid summers with the garage refrigerator as a standard household fixture, and the two together are hard on refrigeration. A garage unit in August is rejecting heat into air hotter than it was designed for; the same unit in a January cold snap may stop cycling altogether.

ChicagoIL · 50 areas

Chicago's housing stock spans a century, and refrigeration follows it: a built-in column in a Gold Coast renovation, a freestanding unit in a bungalow kitchen, and a chest freezer in a basement that half the city has. Basements and unheated back porches are the local detail that matters most.

Los AngelesCA · 95 areas

Los Angeles has more refrigeration per household than almost anywhere: the kitchen unit, an outdoor undercounter refrigerator by the pool, a wine cabinet, and often a second refrigerator in the garage. Each sits in a different thermal environment, and the ones outdoors and in the garage fail first.

San DiegoCA · 31 areas

The coast here is mild enough that an outdoor refrigerator is genuinely practical, and close enough to salt air that condensers, hinges and exterior panels take the weather year after year. Inland the newer planned communities run larger kitchens with built-in refrigeration, while the older coastal neighborhoods keep small ones in rooms that were never enlarged.

San Francisco Bay AreaCA · 74 areas

San Francisco kitchens are small and old in a combination that matters for refrigeration. Counter-depth and undercounter units are chosen because a full-depth cabinet will not fit, and once one is installed in a Victorian or Edwardian kitchen there is rarely any air behind it.

Answers before
you book.

How soon can I book a visit?
Use the appointment form to choose your preferred date and time window. Service availability and the final appointment time will need to be confirmed.
Do you repair my refrigerator brand?
Choose your appliance category and type in the form to see the available brands. Have your model number ready so the team can check the details of your refrigerator.
What should I have ready?
Your refrigerator's brand and model number, a short description of the problem, and any error code you can see. You'll also need your address and contact information to request a visit.
How much will the repair cost?
The cost depends on the issue, the model and any parts needed. Ask about the service-call fee and request an estimate before authorizing the repair.
Is it worth repairing, or should I replace it?
It depends far more on the type of refrigerator than on its age. A built-in or a column is specified with the kitchen and is normally worth repairing well past the point where a freestanding unit would not be.
My freezer is cold but the fridge is warm. Is that serious?
It is usually one of the cheaper problems rather than one of the expensive ones. That pattern means the appliance is still making cold and has stopped delivering it, which points at a fan, a defrost cycle or a damper rather than at the compressor.

you are dealing with.
