What is particular
to SKS.

SKS divides into built-in French-door models, integrated columns that can be joined side by side, and undercounter drawers and wine units. Columns are serviced one cabinet at a time, while a French-door built-in carries two cooling systems in one cabinet.

Separate cooling for each side on the 48-inch

The 48-inch built-in French-door uses dual compressors and dual evaporators. When one section drifts warm while the other holds, the search stays on that section's own system instead of a shared fan or damper.

Two ice makers, and one is slow by design

Beside a cubed-ice maker, SKS fits Craft Ice, which makes three slow-melting spheres about every 24 hours in 3 Ice mode and six in 6 Ice mode. A Craft Ice bin that fills slowly is doing what it is designed to do; Ice Plus speeds production for 24 hours.

Doors that close themselves, below 30 degrees

SKS doors and freezer drawers close on their own when pushed slightly, but only once the door is within about 30 degrees of shut. A door that stops short or pops back open is a hinge, gasket or loading question, and it shows up first as frost, moisture or slow ice.

Built-in diagnostics and a hidden Demo mode

Smart Diagnosis can be run from the smartphone app to read the unit's condition, and ThinQ sends maintenance notifications. Demo mode, which switches off all cooling while leaving the screen alive, is toggled by tapping a corner of the Brightness screen 15 times, so it can be switched on by accident.

Parts

Panel kits, handles and joining kits are ordered by series (Professional or Transitional) and length, separate from the refrigerator's working parts. The water filter is due about every six months and the air filter, behind the right crisper drawer, on the same interval.

Repair or replace

An SKS built-in or column is paneled into the cabinetry, so repair is almost always the right call, including work on one of the two sealed systems of a 48-inch unit.

My SKS Craft Ice maker only makes a few spheres a day. Is it broken?
No. In 3 Ice mode it makes one batch of three spheres about every 24 hours, and 6 Ice mode doubles that. 3 Ice mode gives clearer ice, 6 Ice mode more of it. If it makes none at all after a day, check that it is switched on and the freezer is near 0°F, then book a visit.
Water will not come out of the dispenser inside my SKS.
SKS will not dispense water while any refrigerator door is left open, so check every door first. After a new filter or a new water line, SKS asks for about 2.5 gallons to be run through in 30-second bursts to clear trapped air. If it is still dry after that, the water circuit needs a visit.
The screen and lights work on my SKS, but nothing is cold.
Check for Demo mode, which disables all cooling while leaving the display running. It is toggled from the Brightness screen by tapping the upper right corner 15 times. If Demo mode is off, run Smart Diagnosis from the app and book a visit.
Where is the air filter on my SKS, and how often does it change?
On the 48-inch French-door it is on the back wall behind the right crisper drawer. SKS recommends changing it about every six months, which also helps with odor complaints.
