What Weston does
to a refrigerator.

It was developed as a series of gated villages around a canal and lake system that also carries the area's drainage.

The city incorporated in 1996, after most of the development was built, so its streets and its drainage were laid out by the developer rather than by a city.

Reaching a house usually means clearing a community gate first and then driving the private streets inside it.

Newer developments

Houses built to one specification were fitted with the same appliances in the same openings, so problems arrive in batches and the second call on a street is usually the same as the first — parts for it are current, and lead times are short.

Gated communities

The extra layer between the street and the kitchen means a same-day emergency call is rarely truly same-day; the honest expectation to set is the next available slot with the gate cleared in advance.

Family houses

A refrigerator feeding a full household cycles its compressor far more often than the manufacturer's duty rating assumes, so components rated for typical residential use wear out here on a shorter, predictable schedule.
