ASKO refrigerators,
specifically.

Asko refrigeration is mostly integrated: bottom-freezer and single-door units designed to be built in and faced with a cabinet or stainless panel. The newer models report problems on their own display with short codes, which makes a first diagnosis easier than on many integrated brands.

The ASKO lineup

What is particular
to ASKO.

The range includes integrated bottom-freezer models such as the RF2826S and newer integrated refrigerators with DuraFresh drawers. Older and newer controls report problems differently — lit indicator lights on some, letter codes on others — so the model number decides how to read the display.

A drawer that changes its job

On the RF2826S, the lower drawer can run as a freezer, a fresh-food drawer or a wine drawer. A drawer that seems too warm or too cold is often just set to a different mode.

Codes on the display

Newer Asko refrigerators show short codes: E0 for the touch keys or the board link, temperature-sensor codes, E9 for the door sensor, F1 and F2 for fans. In several of these cases the appliance keeps running in a safe mode until it is repaired.

Moisture control on the cabinet front

The RF2826S has an external moisture control, shipped off, for humid rooms where moisture forms on the front of the cabinet. Built-in units installed side by side need an anti-condensation accessory.

Showroom and child-lock displays

'SHO' on the RF2826S means showroom mode is on; 'LL' on newer models is the child lock and 'PF' is a power-failure alarm. None of these is a broken part.

Parts

LED interior lights are replaced by a technician, not by the owner. Door panels on integrated units come from the cabinetmaker; mechanical and control parts are ordered by the model and serial number on the type plate inside the appliance.

Repair or replace

When the display points to a sensor, a fan or the door sensor, the repair is usually well worth doing. For a sealed-system problem on an older integrated unit, the answer depends on age and on whether a replacement fits the same niche.

Questions about
ASKO refrigerators.

My Asko shows E9. What does it mean?
On models that use it, E9 means a door has been open too long. If it stays after the door is closed, and the compartment light has also stopped working, Asko's manual points to the door sensor. The appliance keeps running in a safe mode until it is repaired.
My Asko display says SHO and the unit is not cooling. Is it broken?
No. On the RF2826S, SHO means showroom mode is on. The manual gives the way out: hold the ALARM button and the minus pad together for five seconds.
Why is there moisture on the front of my Asko?
In humid rooms moisture can form on the cabinet front. The RF2826S has an external moisture control feature that is shipped switched off; turning it on is the first step before booking a visit.
Can I change the interior light myself?
Asko says no. A burned-out LED light has to be replaced by a technician.
