What E9
actually means.
On the R31442I, E9 first of all means a door has stood open too long: after ten minutes the open-door alarm gives way to E9, the LED lighting goes out and the unit switches to safe mode. If E9 stays after the door is shut and the compartment light still does not work, Asko reads that as a defective door sensor.

Before you book,
in this order.
Each step comes from ASKO's own guidance for E9 on its refrigerators. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.
Close every door firmly and look for a shelf, drawer or package that is holding one open.
Open the door for a moment to see whether the compartment light comes back on.
If E9 remains and the light stays dark, book a visit for the door sensor; the unit keeps cooling in safe mode meanwhile.
Cleared?
Nothing needed repairing. If the refrigerator does not settle back to temperature, that is a separate problem.
What not to do
A dark interior during E9 does not by itself mean a burned-out light. This model switches its own lighting off once a door has been open for ten minutes.
