What is particular
to Thermador.

The range splits into Freedom columns (fresh food, freezer and wine, in several widths) and built-in bottom-freezer and French-door units. Which one you have decides the access and the parts, so the model number from the rating label is the most useful thing to have ready for a visit.

Every column cools on its own

A Freedom column has a dedicated compressor and evaporator. In a fresh-food and freezer column pair, a warm column says nothing about its neighbor, and the neighbor running normally is useful evidence rather than a coincidence.

A hinge built for a flush door

The Freedom Hinge is what lets a panel sit flush with the cabinets, and the door closes on a soft-close mechanism. When a panel starts to rub or a door stops pulling shut the last inch, the hinge and its adjustment are the first thing to check, before the gasket.

Doors that open themselves

Columns can carry Open Door Assist, which opens the door with a slight push or pull. A door that springs open, or will not open from a push, is usually a setting or an assist-mechanism question rather than a cooling one.

Built-ins that watch themselves

The bottom-freezer built-ins add a variable-temperature compartment that can run as a refrigerator or a freezer, door cameras, and Home Connect remote diagnostics that service can use when you ask for it. A drawer that seems too cold may simply be set to a freezer mode.

Parts

Column parts are specific to width and door type, and panel-ready units depend on the custom panel your cabinetmaker supplied. Panels and trim are the slow items; cooling parts are ordered by model and production number from the rating label.

Repair or replace

Usually a repair. A column is cut into the cabinetry to its own opening, so replacing one means matching the cutout and the neighboring columns, which makes most repairs the more sensible choice.

My Thermador freezer column is fine but the refrigerator column is warm. Are they connected?
No. Each Freedom column has its own compressor and evaporator, so the two cool independently. The working column rules out household power and room conditions but not much else, and the search stays inside the warm column.
The door on my panel-ready column no longer closes flush. Is it the seal?
Often it is the hinge first. The Freedom Hinge carries the full weight of the custom panel and is what keeps it flush; once its adjustment drifts, the door stops closing on the gasket and the seal only looks like the problem.
Can a technician see my refrigerator's data remotely?
On connected built-in models, Home Connect includes remote diagnostics that service can use if you ask for it, the appliance is on the Home Connect server, and the feature is offered where you live. It can shorten a visit, but it does not replace one when a part has to be changed.
One drawer on my Thermador built-in is freezing food. Is something broken?
Check the setting first. The variable-temperature compartment on the bottom-freezer built-ins can run as a refrigerator or as a freezer, and a drawer switched to a freezer mode behaves exactly like that.
