What is particular
to GE Profile.

Profile refrigerators are bottom-freezer French-door designs in several depths, including four-door models with a convertible zone and three-door models with a convertible drawer. The model prefix (PGD, PGE, PJD, PJE versus PAD, PAE, PHD) tells you which of the two layouts is in the kitchen.

Four-door Profile models (PAD, PAE, PHD) switch the lower right compartment between freezer, refrigerator and chiller from a panel in the top of that door, and the setting is locked until the button is held for three seconds. Owners who adjust that panel expecting the main compartments to change are adjusting the wrong control.

The AutoFill pitcher is a water appliance in the door

The pitcher starts filling about five seconds after the door closes and shuts off at roughly 60 ounces. A pitcher that is not fully seated will not fill, and if the refrigerator senses conditions that could mean a leak, it beeps; removing and reinstalling the pitcher clears that alarm.

Cooling can be switched off from the keypad

Holding Fridge, Freezer and Ice Maker together for three seconds turns the cooling system off without cutting power, and the display then shows CS followed by OFF. Lights on, display lit and nothing cold on a Profile is checked for that state before any part is suspected.

The water line runs through the top hinge

The water line and wiring harness pass through the top hinge pin under a cover. If the doors were taken off to get the refrigerator into the house, that line can end up out of position and rub, which shows up as a squeaking door or a door that does not sit square.

Parts

The filter display reports Err when no filter is present or the wrong one is installed, so the cartridge type is confirmed before any water-system part is ordered. The pitcher, drawer baskets and door bins are model-specific and are identified from the model number.

Repair or replace

A Profile with a control, sensor, ice or dispenser problem is normally worth repairing, because most of what goes wrong is in the feature layer rather than the sealed system. Replacement becomes the conversation only when a sealed-system repair meets an older unit.

My GE Profile display shows CS OFF and nothing is getting cold.
That means the cooling system has been switched off from the keypad, which leaves the lights and display working. On these models, holding Fridge, Freezer and Ice Maker together for three seconds toggles cooling back on. If cooling is on and the unit is still warm, book a visit.
The refrigerator beeps about a possible leak, but the floor is dry.
On AutoFill models the alarm usually points at the pitcher. Check the pitcher and its tray for water, then remove and reinstall the pitcher, which resets the alarm. If it comes back with the pitcher dry and seated, the water circuit needs checking.
I changed the setting on the lower right door, but the freezer temperature did not change.
The panel on that door only controls the convertible zone behind it. The freezer and fresh food temperatures are set from the main control at the top of the refrigerator compartment. The convertible panel is also locked by default and needs a three-second press to unlock.
My GE Profile's door started squeaking after it was delivered.
If the doors were removed to get the unit in, the water line and harness under the top hinge cover can end up rubbing as the door swings. The hinge area may also have lost its grease during cleaning. Both are quick to check with the hinge cover off.
