The control has stopped getting a usable reading from the defrost sensor in the fresh-food section — the small thermistor that tells the board when a defrost cycle has done its job. Without it the board cannot run defrost properly, so the code tends to arrive before the cooling problem does.

Note whether the fresh-food side is still holding temperature, and whether frost is building on the back panel.
Leave the code on the display. Samsung asks owners not to unplug the unit or press buttons to clear it first — it takes away what the technician needs to see.
Have the full model number ready: which sensor and harness the model uses decides the part.

Do not treat it as a fan or compressor failure and order parts on that basis. The code names a sensor reading, and the reading is confirmed with a meter before anything is replaced.
