What E1
actually means.
E1 is Bertazzoni's code for a problem with the temperature sensor in the fresh food compartment. The manual says the refrigerator can keep cooling with this code showing, but asks you to contact a service technician. Until then, the control may be working from a wrong reading of the fresh food temperature.

Write down the code and the model number (RFD36FZNX or RFD36FZNW) from the rating plate.
Put an appliance thermometer on a middle shelf and check the real fresh food temperature over a few hours.
If food starts freezing or warming, move what matters most to the freezer or a cooler.
Book a visit and mention E1 so the technician checks the compartment sensor and its wiring first.
