What Temperature Alarm
actually means.
The refrigerator has stayed above 48°F, or the freezer above 15°F, for more than an hour and a half. The beeping stops on its own once the cabinet cools back down, but the light keeps flashing until someone presses Alarm, so a flashing light can mean the warm spell has already passed. If the temperature never comes back down, the cabinet is not keeping up and food is at risk.

The 48°F / 15°F thresholds and 1½-hour delay are the ones Whirlpool gives for its full-size French door and side-by-side models.
Before you book,
in this order.
Each step comes from Whirlpool's own guidance for Temperature Alarm on its refrigerators. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.
Check the food first: anything in the fresh food side that sat above 40°F for hours should be judged before it is eaten.
Think back over the last few hours for an outage, a door left open or a big grocery load, any of which can trigger it without a failure.
Press Alarm to clear the light, then watch whether the temperature returns to normal over the next few hours.
If it stays warm or the alarm returns, book a visit and describe how long it has been running warm.
What not to do
It is not a reminder or a mode. It reports that the cabinet actually got warm, and it does not say why.
