--- title: "Maytag refrigerator showing PO | RefrigeratorRepair.center" description: "What PO means on Maytag refrigerators, what to check before booking, and when it is not a failure at all." url: "https://refrigeratorrepair.center/error-codes/maytag-po/" --- # Maytag refrigerator showing PO PO is Maytag's power outage notice. ## What PO actually means. PO is Maytag's power outage notice. It appears after power returns if the refrigerator was without power long enough for the freezer to reach 18°F or warmer, together with three alert tones. It tells you about the outage and the warm freezer, not about a broken part. Maytag refrigerator display What to do when PO shows on the refrigerator ### Kind of code Mode, not a failure A setting somebody chose, or an alert it raised on purpose — a showroom mode, a door or power alarm. Nothing has broken and no part is needed. ### Usually leads to No repair Acknowledge it by pressing MEASURED FILL under the blinking Confirm; the display then goes back to normal. ### Shows up as Refrigerator Not Cooling The compartment is warm but the appliance still has power and still makes noise. ### Make Maytag Freestanding refrigeration from the Whirlpool family, sold on durability. ### Source Maytag Product Help (producthelp.maytag.com): PO Error Code - Refrigerator Described for Maytag French door and side-by-side refrigerators; button names can differ on other models. ## Before you book, in this order. Each step comes from Maytag's own guidance for PO on its refrigerators. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit. 01 Acknowledge it by pressing MEASURED FILL under the blinking Confirm; the display then goes back to normal. 02 Sort through the freezer for anything that softened or thawed, and decide what can be kept. 03 Check the fresh food side, which lost power for the same length of time. 04 Over the next few hours, confirm that both compartments return to their set temperatures. ### Cleared? Nothing needed repairing. If the refrigerator does not settle back to temperature, that is a separate problem. ### What not to do PO on its own is not a reason to call for repair. The outage it reports is already over. ## What you may notice with it. The refrigerator problems PO tends to arrive with. Answer these at the refrigerator before anyone is booked.
