The freezer fan motor is not running normally. LG says the usual reason is ice locked around the fan rather than a failed motor. LG refrigerator display · also shown as E FF, FF What to do when ER FF shows on the refrigerator ### Kind of code Fan circuit A fan the control board expected to be turning is not — a motor that has failed, or ice holding the blade still. ### Usually leads to Fan and airflow repair Two fans, two completely different failures — one stops the cold arriving, the other stops the heat leaving. ### Shows up as Fresh Food Section Warm, Freezer Cold The single most diagnostic pattern on a refrigerator, and almost never the compressor. ### Make LG French door refrigeration with linear compressors and heavily instrumented controls. ### Source LG US support: E FF or E rF error code Shown as ER FF or E FF depending on the model. ## Before you book, in this order. Each step comes from LG's own guidance for ER FF on its refrigerators. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit. 01 Cut the power for about five minutes, then switch it back on. 02 If ice is holding the fan, unplug the unit and leave the doors open — about a day in summer, up to three in winter. 03 If the same code keeps returning, book a visit. ### Still there? It usually turns into [fan and airflow repair](https://refrigeratorrepair.center/services/fan-and-airflow-repair/). Book with the code and the model number. ### What not to do Do not leave a freezer running on a stopped fan and trust the display. Cut the power for about five minutes, then switch it back on. If it comes back, it needs a visit. ### Is a five-minute power cut enough to fix ER FF on my LG? Sometimes, and it is the first thing LG suggests. When ice is holding the freezer fan, only a proper defrost with the doors open will free it, and a code that keeps returning after that needs a technician. ### Why is my LG freezer getting warm with ER FF showing? The cold is still being made at the coil, but with the fan stopped it never reaches the food. The compartment warms even though the compressor may sound normal. --- **[Read on the site: LG refrigerator showing ER FF | RefrigeratorRepair.center](https://refrigeratorrepair.center/error-codes/lg-er-ff/)** **[Book a visit with RefrigeratorRepair.center](https://refrigeratorrepair.center/schedule/)**
