CF points at the condenser fan, the one low at the back of the cabinet that carries heat away from the condenser. The control expects a steady feedback signal from that fan while it runs, and CF appears when the signal comes back too short. LG offers no owner fix for it and sends it straight to a repair visit. LG refrigerator display · also shown as Er CF, E CF What to do when CF shows on the refrigerator ### Kind of code Fan circuit A fan the control board expected to be turning is not — a motor that has failed, or ice holding the blade still. ### Usually leads to Fan and airflow repair Two fans, two completely different failures — one stops the cold arriving, the other stops the heat leaving. ### Shows up as Fresh Food Section Warm, Freezer Cold The single most diagnostic pattern on a refrigerator, and almost never the compressor. ### Make LG French door refrigeration with linear compressors and heavily instrumented controls. ### Source LG US support: refrigerator error code list (Wayback copy, Feb 2024) LG models with a digital display. LG says the letters may be preceded by E, r or Er depending on the model. ## Before you book, in this order. Each step comes from LG's own guidance for CF on its refrigerators. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit. 01 Write the code down exactly as shown, including any E or Er in front of it, together with the model number from the label inside the door. 02 Check the fresh food and freezer temperatures so you can say whether cooling has changed since the code appeared. 03 Keep the doors shut as much as you can until someone has looked at it. 04 Book a repair visit; LG lists no steps for an owner to try on this code. ### Still there? It usually turns into [fan and airflow repair](https://refrigeratorrepair.center/services/fan-and-airflow-repair/). Book with the code and the model number. ### What not to do This is not FF or rF. Those two are fans inside the cold compartments, where LG suggests a manual defrost first; CF is the fan outside the cooled space, and defrosting the cabinet does nothing for it. ## What you may notice with it. Write the code down exactly as shown, including any E or Er in front of it, together with the model number from the label inside the door. If it comes back, it needs a visit. ### Will defrosting my LG help with a CF code? No, CF concerns the condenser fan low at the back, outside the cooled space. Defrosting the cabinet does nothing for it, and LG sends this code straight to a repair visit. ### What should I tell the technician about CF on my LG? Give the code exactly as displayed, including any E or Er, plus the model number from the label inside the door. Mention whether the fresh food and freezer temperatures have changed since it appeared. --- **[Read on the site: LG refrigerator showing CF | RefrigeratorRepair.center](https://refrigeratorrepair.center/error-codes/lg-cf/)** **[Book a visit with RefrigeratorRepair.center](https://refrigeratorrepair.center/schedule/)**
