Er rt names the sensor that reads the temperature of the room the refrigerator stands in, rather than anything inside the cabinet. Sears lists a short in the sensor or a wiring problem, and the room temperature sensor as the part. Kenmore refrigerator display What to do when Er rt shows on the refrigerator ### Kind of code Sensor circuit A temperature sensor reading outside its range, or the wiring to it. The reading is confirmed with a meter before any part is ordered. ### Usually leads to Controls and sensors A refrigerator cools to what it believes the temperature is, and a sensor reading wrong is obeyed perfectly. ### Shows up as Refrigerator Freezing Food Lettuce frozen solid and milk with ice in it, in a compartment that is not supposed to freeze. ### Make Kenmore A retail badge on appliances built by several different manufacturers. ### Source Sears PartsDirect: Kenmore 795 bottom-freezer error codes (Wayback copy, Jan 2021) Kenmore and Kenmore Elite models whose number starts 795 (built by LG); Sears lists Er rt among that series' sensor codes. ## Before you book, in this order. Each step comes from Kenmore's own guidance for Er rt on its refrigerators. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit. 01 Confirm the 795 prefix on the model label; Er rt on another Kenmore family may not mean the same sensor. 02 Note whether the refrigerator sits somewhere unusually hot or cold, such as a garage, and tell the technician. 03 Book a visit so the room sensor and its connector can be checked. ### Still there? Confirm the 795 prefix on the model label; Er rt on another Kenmore family may not mean the same sensor. If it comes back, it needs a visit. ### Does Er rt on my Kenmore mean my kitchen is too hot? No, the code is about the room sensor, the part that measures the air around the refrigerator. On the Sears chart the likely causes are a shorted sensor or damaged wiring to it. ### Should I mention where my Kenmore stands when I book for Er rt? Yes, tell the technician if the refrigerator sits somewhere unusually hot or cold, such as a garage. The room sensor and its connector are then checked on the visit. --- **[Read on the site: Kenmore refrigerator showing Er rt](https://refrigeratorrepair.center/error-codes/kenmore-er-rt/)** **[Book a visit with RefrigeratorRepair.center](https://refrigeratorrepair.center/schedule/)**
