--- title: "Kenmore refrigerator showing Er It" description: "What Er It means on Kenmore refrigerators, what to check before booking, and when it is not a failure at all." url: "https://refrigeratorrepair.center/error-codes/kenmore-er-it/" --- # Kenmore refrigerator showing Er It Er It is a system error inside the ice maker. ## What Er It actually means. Er It is a system error inside the ice maker. Sears points to the ice maker's self-test routine as the way it is checked, and to the ice maker assembly as the likely part. The code does not say which piece inside the ice maker is at issue; the self-test is how that gets narrowed down. Kenmore refrigerator display What to do when Er It shows on the refrigerator ### Kind of code Service indication A light or a message asking for a visit. It says that something wants attention, not what, so the visit starts with a diagnosis. ### Usually leads to Diagnostic visit The visit that decides what the repair actually is, before any part is ordered. ### Shows up as Ice Maker Not Making Ice When the freezer is cold, the question is whether water is arriving — not whether the appliance can freeze. ### Make Kenmore A retail badge on appliances built by several different manufacturers. ### Source Sears PartsDirect: Kenmore 795 bottom-freezer error codes (Wayback copy, Jan 2021) Kenmore models whose number starts 795 (built by LG) with an ice maker; Er It is on the Sears 795 chart, and the reset step comes from the 795.7756x service manual. ## Before you book, in this order. Each step comes from Kenmore's own guidance for Er It on its refrigerators. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit. 01 Check the label for a model number beginning 795, which is where this reading of Er It comes from. 02 Turn the ice maker switch off and back on; the 795 service manual says that resets the ice maker's control. 03 If Er It comes back after that reset, book a visit to have the ice maker self-test run. ### Still there? It usually turns into [diagnostic visit](https://refrigeratorrepair.center/services/diagnostic-visit/). Book with the code and the model number. ### What not to do Er It is not the same code as Er IS. That one names the ice maker's sensor circuit; this one is a wider error from the ice maker as a whole. ## What you may notice with it. The refrigerator problems Er It tends to arrive with. Check the label for a model number beginning 795, which is where this reading of Er It comes from. If it comes back, it needs a visit. ### Can I reset Er It on my Kenmore ice maker myself? The 795 service manual says turning the ice maker switch off and back on resets the ice maker's control. If Er It comes back after that, the ice maker self-test needs to be run by a technician. ### How is Er It different from Er IS on a Kenmore 795? Er IS names the ice maker's sensor circuit specifically. Er It is a broader system error from the ice maker, and the self-test is how the cause gets narrowed down. --- **[Read on the site: Kenmore refrigerator showing Er It](https://refrigeratorrepair.center/error-codes/kenmore-er-it/)** **[Book a visit with RefrigeratorRepair.center](https://refrigeratorrepair.center/schedule/)**
