--- title: "Kenmore refrigerator showing Er FS" description: "What Er FS means on Kenmore refrigerators, what to check before booking, and when it is not a failure at all." url: "https://refrigeratorrepair.center/error-codes/kenmore-er-fs/" --- # Kenmore refrigerator showing Er FS Er FS says the control has lost a believable reading from the freezer temperature sensor, either because the sensor itself has shorted or opened or because its wiring or connector has. ## What Er FS actually means. Er FS says the control has lost a believable reading from the freezer temperature sensor, either because the sensor itself has shorted or opened or because its wiring or connector has. Without that number the board is guessing at how hard to run the freezer. The LG-built 795 service manual lists the same code as a short or disconnection of the freezer sensor. Kenmore refrigerator display What to do when Er FS shows on the refrigerator ### Kind of code Sensor circuit A temperature sensor reading outside its range, or the wiring to it. The reading is confirmed with a meter before any part is ordered. ### Usually leads to Controls and sensors A refrigerator cools to what it believes the temperature is, and a sensor reading wrong is obeyed perfectly. ### Shows up as Refrigerator Freezing Food Lettuce frozen solid and milk with ice in it, in a compartment that is not supposed to freeze. ### Make Kenmore A retail badge on appliances built by several different manufacturers. ### Source Sears PartsDirect: Kenmore 795 bottom-freezer error codes (Wayback copy, Jan 2021) Kenmore and Kenmore Elite models whose number starts 795 (built by LG), bottom-freezer and French door; Er FS is on the Sears chart and in the 795.7756x service manual. ## Before you book, in this order. Each step comes from Kenmore's own guidance for Er FS on its refrigerators. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit. 01 Find the model label inside the fresh food section and confirm the number begins 795, since Er FS is read from that family's chart. 02 Put a thermometer in the freezer so you can see whether it is still freezing hard. 03 Book a visit; the freezer sensor and its connector are measured with a meter before a part is ordered. ### Still there? It usually turns into [controls and sensors](https://refrigeratorrepair.center/services/controls-and-sensors/). Book with the code and the model number. ### What not to do Er FS is not a report that the freezer is warm. A freezer can be perfectly cold while this code shows, because the trouble is the reading, not the cold. ## What you may notice with it. The refrigerator problems Er FS tends to arrive with. Find the model label inside the fresh food section and confirm the number begins 795, since Er FS is read from that family's chart. If it comes back, it needs a visit. ### Does Er FS on my Kenmore mean the freezer is too warm? Not necessarily, because the code is about the reading rather than the temperature. The freezer can still be cold while the board has lost a believable signal from its sensor. ### What gets checked for Er FS on a Kenmore 795? The freezer sensor and its connector are measured with a meter before a part is chosen. Sears lists sensor and wiring problems, and the service manual describes a shorted or disconnected sensor. --- **[Read on the site: Kenmore refrigerator showing Er FS](https://refrigeratorrepair.center/error-codes/kenmore-er-fs/)** **[Book a visit with RefrigeratorRepair.center](https://refrigeratorrepair.center/schedule/)**
