Er CO means the main control board and the display board are no longer exchanging data. Sears lists the display board, the main power board and the wiring harness that joins them. The 795 service manual describes it as a communication error between the two boards' microcontrollers. Kenmore refrigerator display What to do when Er CO shows on the refrigerator ### Kind of code Communication Two boards that stopped hearing each other — the main control and the display, or the inverter. A harness is checked before a board. ### Usually leads to Controls and sensors A refrigerator cools to what it believes the temperature is, and a sensor reading wrong is obeyed perfectly. ### Shows up as Refrigerator Control Panel Not Responding Buttons do nothing, the display is blank or frozen, or settings will not hold. ### Make Kenmore A retail badge on appliances built by several different manufacturers. ### Source Sears PartsDirect: Kenmore 795 bottom-freezer error codes (Wayback copy, Jan 2021) Kenmore and Kenmore Elite models whose number starts 795 (built by LG); Er CO is in the Sears 795 chart and the 795.7756x service manual. ## Before you book, in this order. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit. 01 Check that the model number on the label begins 795 before relying on this reading of Er CO. 02 Switch the refrigerator off at the breaker for two minutes and restore power to see whether the boards reconnect. 03 Book a visit if Er CO returns; the harness between the boards is checked before either board is replaced. ### Still there? It usually turns into [controls and sensors](https://refrigeratorrepair.center/services/controls-and-sensors/).
