A flashing P2 on a Hestan undercounter controller means the evaporator probe has failed. That sensor sits on the cold coil rather than in the open compartment. Hestan's table gives no owner remedy and sends the owner to service. Hestan refrigerator display What to do when P2 shows on the refrigerator ### Kind of code Sensor circuit A temperature sensor reading outside its range, or the wiring to it. The reading is confirmed with a meter before any part is ordered. ### Usually leads to Controls and sensors A refrigerator cools to what it believes the temperature is, and a sensor reading wrong is obeyed perfectly. ### Shows up as Refrigerator Freezing Food Lettuce frozen solid and milk with ice in it, in a compartment that is not supposed to freeze. ### Make Hestan A Californian maker known for ranges and outdoor kitchens, with refrigeration columns and undercounter units. ### Source Hestan Indoor / Outdoor Undercounter Refrigeration Use & Care Manual (Hestan PDF), Troubleshooting table Hestan 24-inch indoor/outdoor undercounter units with the LED controller: GRS and GRG refrigerators, GRR refrigerator drawers, GRFR refrigerator/freezer drawers and GRWS/GRWG dual-zone models, per the manual's model list. ## Before you book, in this order. Each step comes from Hestan's own guidance for P2 on its refrigerators. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit. 01 Write down P2 and the model number from the rating label. 02 Keep an eye on the compartment temperature and on any frost forming on the inside back wall. 03 Book a visit and mention P2 so the evaporator probe and its wiring are checked first. ### Still there? It usually turns into [controls and sensors](https://refrigeratorrepair.center/services/controls-and-sensors/). Book with the code and the model number. ### What not to do P2 is not the thermostat probe (that is P1), and it is not a temperature alarm. HA and LA are the codes for a compartment that is too warm or too cold. ## What you may notice with it. The refrigerator problems P2 tends to arrive with. Write down P2 and the model number from the rating label. If it comes back, it needs a visit. ### What is the evaporator probe named by Hestan P2? It is the sensor on the cold coil, not in the open compartment. Hestan says it has failed and offers no owner remedy. Mention P2 when booking so the probe and wiring are checked first. ### What should I watch for on my Hestan while P2 is showing? Keep an eye on the compartment temperature and on frost forming on the inside back wall. P2 is not a temperature alarm; HA and LA handle that. Note the model number from the rating label. --- **[Read on the site: Hestan refrigerator showing P2 | RefrigeratorRepair.center](https://refrigeratorrepair.center/error-codes/hestan-p2/)** **[Book a visit with RefrigeratorRepair.center](https://refrigeratorrepair.center/schedule/)**
