A flashing P1 on the LED controller of a Hestan undercounter unit means the thermostat probe, the sensor the controller uses to read the compartment, has failed. Without a trustworthy reading the controller cannot hold the set temperature reliably. Hestan lists no owner fix for it. Hestan refrigerator display What to do when P1 shows on the refrigerator ### Kind of code Sensor circuit A temperature sensor reading outside its range, or the wiring to it. The reading is confirmed with a meter before any part is ordered. ### Usually leads to Controls and sensors A refrigerator cools to what it believes the temperature is, and a sensor reading wrong is obeyed perfectly. ### Shows up as Refrigerator Freezing Food Lettuce frozen solid and milk with ice in it, in a compartment that is not supposed to freeze. ### Make Hestan A Californian maker known for ranges and outdoor kitchens, with refrigeration columns and undercounter units. ### Source Hestan Indoor / Outdoor Undercounter Refrigeration Use & Care Manual (Hestan PDF), Troubleshooting table Hestan 24-inch indoor/outdoor undercounter units with the LED controller: GRS and GRG refrigerators, GRR refrigerator drawers, GRFR refrigerator/freezer drawers and GRWS/GRWG dual-zone models, per the manual's model list. ## Before you book, in this order. Each step comes from Hestan's own guidance for P1 on its refrigerators. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit. 01 Note the model number from the rating label on the inside top of the cabinet. 02 Put an appliance thermometer inside and check the real temperature over a few hours. 03 Move anything that cannot tolerate a change in temperature, then book a visit. ### Still there? It usually turns into [controls and sensors](https://refrigeratorrepair.center/services/controls-and-sensors/). Book with the code and the model number. ### What not to do P1 is not P2. P1 concerns the probe that reads the compartment; P2 is the probe on the evaporator. ## What you may notice with it. The refrigerator problems P1 tends to arrive with. Note the model number from the rating label on the inside top of the cabinet. If it comes back, it needs a visit. ### Why can't my Hestan undercounter hold its temperature with P1 flashing? P1 means the thermostat probe that reads the compartment has failed. Without a reliable reading the controller cannot keep the set temperature steady. Hestan gives no owner fix. ### Where do I find the model number to book service for P1 on a Hestan? It is on the rating label on the inside top of the cabinet. Meanwhile, an appliance thermometer tells you the real temperature. P2 is a different probe, on the evaporator. --- **[Read on the site: Hestan refrigerator showing P1 | RefrigeratorRepair.center](https://refrigeratorrepair.center/error-codes/hestan-p1/)** **[Book a visit with RefrigeratorRepair.center](https://refrigeratorrepair.center/schedule/)**
