--- title: "GE refrigerator showing FF | RefrigeratorRepair.center" description: "What FF means on GE refrigerators, what to check before booking, and when it is not a failure at all." url: "https://refrigeratorrepair.center/error-codes/ge-ff/" --- # GE refrigerator showing FF FF is GE's warning that the freezer temperature is climbing too high, and GE's first instruction is to check the frozen food for thawing. ## What FF actually means. FF is GE's warning that the freezer temperature is climbing too high, and GE's first instruction is to check the frozen food for thawing. The code tells you the freezer is warming; it does not tell you why. GE refrigerator display What to do when FF shows on the refrigerator ### Kind of code Service indication A light or a message asking for a visit. It says that something wants attention, not what, so the visit starts with a diagnosis. ### Usually leads to Diagnostic visit The visit that decides what the repair actually is, before any part is ordered. ### Shows up as Refrigerator Showing an Error Code A code narrows the search, but only the manufacturer's own table gives it meaning. ### Make GE The widest range in the market, from basic freestanding units to built-in Monogram-adjacent models. ### Source GE Appliances support: refrigerator codes GE models with electronic dispenser controls, where codes flash on the dispenser panel. ## Before you book, in this order. Each step comes from GE's own guidance for FF on its refrigerators. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit. 01 Check the frozen food now; move anything that has started to thaw into another freezer or a cooler. 02 Make sure the freezer door or drawer closes fully and nothing is holding it open. 03 Disconnect power for a minute or two, then reconnect; GE says this sometimes resets the panel and clears a code. 04 If the freezer does not come back down, book a visit promptly. ### Still there? It usually turns into [diagnostic visit](https://refrigeratorrepair.center/services/diagnostic-visit/). Book with the code and the model number. ### What not to do Do not read it as a fan code. LG uses FF for its freezer fan, but on GE it is a temperature warning, so the visit starts by finding out why the freezer is warm. ## What you may notice with it. Check the frozen food now; move anything that has started to thaw into another freezer or a cooler. If it comes back, it needs a visit. ### What should I do first when FF appears on my GE? Check the frozen food for thawing and move anything soft to another freezer or cooler. Then make sure the freezer door or drawer is fully closed. ### Is GE FF a freezer fan code like on LG? No, on GE it is a temperature warning that the freezer is warming. The visit starts by finding out why, not by assuming a fan. --- **[Read on the site: GE refrigerator showing FF | RefrigeratorRepair.center](https://refrigeratorrepair.center/error-codes/ge-ff/)** **[Book a visit with RefrigeratorRepair.center](https://refrigeratorrepair.center/schedule/)**
