SY CF means the user interface on the door and the main control board failed to communicate when the refrigerator was starting up. Frigidaire's service sheet separates it from SY CE, which is the same link failing after the unit has been running for a while. Frigidaire's owner support lists it among the codes that call for service. Frigidaire refrigerator display What to do when SY CF shows on the refrigerator ### Kind of code Communication Two boards that stopped hearing each other — the main control and the display, or the inverter. A harness is checked before a board. ### Usually leads to Controls and sensors A refrigerator cools to what it believes the temperature is, and a sensor reading wrong is obeyed perfectly. ### Shows up as Refrigerator Control Panel Not Responding Buttons do nothing, the display is blank or frozen, or settings will not hold. ### Make Frigidaire Freestanding refrigeration and one of the most common standalone freezer brands. ### Source Frigidaire service data sheet A06589001, bottom freezer with ice and water (Wayback copy of manuals.frigidaire.com, Oct 2020) Documented on the service sheet for a Frigidaire bottom freezer with ice and water; the same code appears in Frigidaire's French door alarm list. ## Before you book, in this order. Each step comes from Frigidaire's own guidance for SY CF on its refrigerators. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit. 01 Note whether the code appeared right after the power came back on, after an outage or after the unit was plugged in. 02 Try one reset: unplug for 30 seconds, or switch the breaker off and on, then plug back in. 03 If SY CF shows again, book a visit and quote the code exactly. ### Still there? It usually turns into [controls and sensors](https://refrigeratorrepair.center/services/controls-and-sensors/). Book with the code and the model number. ### What not to do It is not SY CE, and it is not a condenser fan code despite the letters CF. The service sheet asks for wiring and pin connections to be checked before the main board is replaced. ## What you may notice with it. The refrigerator problem SY CF tends to arrive with. Note whether the code appeared right after the power came back on, after an outage or after the unit was plugged in. If it comes back, it needs a visit. ### Is SY CF on my Frigidaire a condenser fan code? No, despite the letters, SY CF means the door interface and main board failed to communicate at start-up. Read the four characters out exactly as they appear so the start-up link is what gets tested. ### Should I reset my Frigidaire for SY CF? One reset is fine: unplug for 30 seconds or flip the breaker. If SY CF shows again, book a visit; the service sheet has the wiring checked before the main board. --- **[Read on the site: Frigidaire refrigerator showing SY CF](https://refrigeratorrepair.center/error-codes/frigidaire-sy-cf/)** **[Book a visit with RefrigeratorRepair.center](https://refrigeratorrepair.center/schedule/)**
