The display board and the main control board have stopped communicating after the refrigerator has been running for a while. On Frigidaire's own service sheet, SY CF is the same failure at start-up. Frigidaire refrigerator display What to do when SY CE shows on the refrigerator ### Kind of code Communication Two boards that stopped hearing each other — the main control and the display, or the inverter. A harness is checked before a board. ### Usually leads to Controls and sensors A refrigerator cools to what it believes the temperature is, and a sensor reading wrong is obeyed perfectly. ### Shows up as Refrigerator Control Panel Not Responding Buttons do nothing, the display is blank or frozen, or settings will not hold. ### Make Frigidaire Freestanding refrigeration and one of the most common standalone freezer brands. ### Source Frigidaire service data sheet A06589001 (archived copy) The meaning is from Frigidaire's service data sheet A06589001; the owner site lists the code as needing service. ## Before you book, in this order. Each step comes from Frigidaire's own guidance for SY CE on its refrigerators. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit. 01 Reset once: press Clear Alerts, or unplug the unit for 30 seconds. 02 If SY CE returns, book a visit. 03 Mention whether it appears straight away or after running for a while — that is the difference between the two codes. ### Still there? It usually turns into [controls and sensors](https://refrigeratorrepair.center/services/controls-and-sensors/). Book with the code and the model number. ### What not to do Do not replace the display on the strength of this code. It names the link between two boards, and the harness is checked first. ## What you may notice with it. The refrigerator problem SY CE tends to arrive with. Reset once: press Clear Alerts, or unplug the unit for 30 seconds. If it comes back, it needs a visit. ### What is the difference between SY CE and SY CF on a Frigidaire? Both are the display and main board losing contact, but SY CE happens after the unit has been running and SY CF at start-up. Whether it showed up straight after power-on or hours later is worth passing on. ### Should I replace the Frigidaire display for SY CE? No, the code points at the link between two boards, and the harness is checked before any board. Try one reset with Clear Alerts or a 30-second unplug, then book a visit if it returns. --- **[Read on the site: Frigidaire refrigerator showing SY CE](https://refrigeratorrepair.center/error-codes/frigidaire-sy-ce/)** **[Book a visit with RefrigeratorRepair.center](https://refrigeratorrepair.center/schedule/)**
