Error codes

# Refrigerator error codes, read properly.

A code narrows the search and is also the thing most often read wrong: the same characters mean different things on different brands, and a fair number of the codes people look up are not failures at all — they are modes the appliance was left in.

## Find your code, make by make.

Type the characters exactly as the display shows them, or pick the make. Each code has a page of its own: what it means on that brand, what to check, and what not to do.

### Only confirmed codes

Every code here is taken from the manufacturer's own documentation, never from a forum or a parts listing. If yours is not listed, book with the exact characters and the full model number, and we will tell you whether it is one we take.

## Three things before you look it up.

A code is a lead, not a verdict. These decide whether the answer you find will be any use.

01

### The exact characters

Every letter, in the order it appears. Photograph the display rather than copying it, and do it before you reset anything — some codes clear on a power cycle and take the evidence with them.

02

### The full model number

The same characters mean different things on different brands, and sometimes on two generations of one. Without the model number a code is a guess.

03

### Is it still cooling?

That single answer decides whether this waits for a scheduled visit or not — and whether the food needs moving now.

## What each kind of code means.

Codes fall into a handful of families. The family says more about the likely repair than the characters do — and one of them is not a repair at all.

[How to read a code](https://refrigeratorrepair.center/problems/refrigerator-error-code/)

### Mode, not a failure

83 codes

A setting somebody chose, or an alert it raised on purpose — a showroom mode, a door or power alarm. Nothing has broken and no part is needed.

## Questions about the codes.

### My code is not listed. What does that mean?

Only that there is no documented page for it here yet. Codes are added here only when the manufacturer’s own material explains them. Note the exact characters and whether they flash or stay lit, and put them in the booking form so the technician can read them against your model.

### Does the same code mean the same thing on another make?

No, and assuming it does is a common mistake. Characters that report a sensor on one brand can report a mode or an open door on another, and some brands change meanings between model generations. Read a code against the make and, where it matters, the model.

### Can I clear the code myself?

Switching the appliance off for a few minutes sometimes clears it, and a code that stays away afterward was often a one-off. A code that returns is telling you the condition is real. Clearing it again and again fixes nothing and hides how often it happens.

### The display shows letters but the fridge is cooling fine. Is that an error?

Often not. A number of the codes people look up are modes, such as a showroom, sabbath or control-lock setting, that change what the appliance does without anything having failed. The code pages mark which ones are modes and how each is switched off.
