BlueStar is a Pennsylvania range maker whose refrigeration is a short list: panel-ready refrigerator and freezer columns, 36-inch PRO built-in units, and a counter-depth French-door model. The built-ins are serviced in place from the front, with the condenser, power switch and water filter all behind the top grille. BlueStar builds 2 of the 5 refrigerator types this site covers. Which one decides how the visit is planned. The refrigeration range is 18-, 24- and 30-inch panel-ready refrigerator and freezer columns, 36-inch PRO built-in refrigerator/freezers (including a French-door version), and a 36-inch counter-depth French-door refrigerator. The column and PRO manuals differ, so the model number matters before the visit. ### Everything is behind the top grille On the PRO built-in units the condenser, the power switch and the water filter all sit behind the lift-up top grille, with the condenser on the left. Nearly every visit starts by lifting that grille. ### 'Call for Service' with flashing dashes When the electronic control detects a problem in the operating system, the display shows 'Call for Service' and flashing dashes in place of the temperatures. That message is the unit's way of saying the owner cannot clear it, and it is the moment to book a visit. ### The water filter lives in the freezer column On column pairs the ice maker and its water filter are in the freezer column, and BlueStar asks for filter replacement every six months or sooner. A missed filter change is a common reason for slow ice or poor-tasting ice. ### Panel-ready doors and hinge adjustment The columns take custom panels, and BlueStar notes it is normal for doors to settle slightly when loaded with food. Doors that settle too far stop sealing, which shows up as condensation, frost or a warm compartment. Parts BlueStar's refrigeration line is small and specialized, so parts are ordered by model number rather than stocked in every van. Replacement water filters are a routine order and should be kept on hand. Repair or replace The built-in units are fitted into cabinetry and usually bought as part of a matched kitchen, so repair is normally the answer. The counter-depth freestanding model is the one where replacement becomes a closer call on a major failure. Book your BlueStar visit ## What we are called out for. What does that mean? BlueStar uses that message when the electronic control has found a problem in the operating system. It is not something to clear yourself; note the message and book a visit. ### How often should I clean the condenser on my BlueStar refrigerator? Every three to six months, according to BlueStar. On the PRO built-in units you lift the top grille, turn the power off, and brush and vacuum the condenser on the left in the direction of the fins. ### My BlueStar freezer column is not making ice. What should I check first? BlueStar's list is short: make sure the water supply is on, the ice maker has been on for at least 24 hours, the freezer is at 0°F, the water line has no kinks, and the filter is not overdue. If all of that checks out, book a visit. --- **[Read on the site: BlueStar Refrigerator Repair | RefrigeratorRepair.center](https://refrigeratorrepair.center/brands/bluestar/)** **[Book a visit with RefrigeratorRepair.center](https://refrigeratorrepair.center/schedule/)**
