Value freestanding refrigeration from the Whirlpool family." url: "https://refrigeratorrepair.center/brands/amana/" --- # Amana Refrigerator Repair Value freestanding refrigeration from the Whirlpool family. ## Amana refrigerators, specifically. Amana is the family's value refrigerator: top-freezer, bottom-freezer and side-by-side models with simple controls, humidity-controlled crispers and gallon door bins. The controls are basic enough that many 'warm refrigerator' calls start with a setting, and the ice maker is frequently an add-on rather than standard. The line is built around top-freezer refrigerators, with bottom-freezer and side-by-side models above them. Most are mechanically simple, which keeps visits short and keeps parts easy to identify from the model tag. ### Two controls, one airflow path On Amana top-freezer models, temperature is set by two controls: a Temperature control at the top front of the fresh-food section and an Airflow control on the back wall of the freezer. The Airflow control decides how much cold air passes from the freezer to the refrigerator, so a warm fresh-food section above a cold freezer often starts with that setting. ### Ice maker as a kit Many Amana top-freezer models ship ice-maker-ready and take the ice maker as a separate kit. A unit with no ice may simply never have had one installed, and the kit connection is checked before anything else. ### One shared air supply Air circulates between the refrigerator and freezer sections on these models, so an odor in one travels to the other. A smell complaint is cleared by cleaning both sections, not just the one where it was noticed. ### LED lights that are not a bulb swap Some Amana models use LED lighting behind the Temperature control. When an LED does not come on with the door open, the manual sends owners to service rather than to a replacement bulb. Parts Amana shares parts, and even some owner manuals, with its sister brands, so common parts are rarely hard to find. The model and serial tag on the inside wall of the refrigerator compartment is what decides the exact part. Repair or replace Often a close call. An Amana costs less to replace than most refrigerators, so control, fan, defrost and ice-maker kit work is worth doing, but a compressor or leak on an aging unit usually tips the balance toward a new one. What should I check? The Airflow control on the back wall of the freezer. It regulates how much cold air flows into the refrigerator section, and the manual says to set it to the Recommended position when the unit is first plugged in. If it is correct and the refrigerator stays warm after 24 hours, book a visit. ### Why doesn't my new Amana make ice? Many Amana top-freezer models are ice-maker-ready and take the ice maker as a separate kit. Check whether one was actually installed before assuming it has failed. ### The light in my Amana won't come on. Can I just change the bulb? It depends on the model. Some use LED lighting behind the Temperature control, and for those the manual recommends service if the light does not come on when the door opens. ### There is a smell in my Amana freezer and now the refrigerator smells too. Why? Air circulates between both sections, so an odor from one reaches the other. Both sections need cleaning to clear it. --- **[Read on the site: Amana Refrigerator Repair | RefrigeratorRepair.center](https://refrigeratorrepair.center/brands/amana/)** **[Book a visit with RefrigeratorRepair.center](https://refrigeratorrepair.center/schedule/)**
